Who We Are
Michael graduated from South Bank University in 2003 and worked as a project architect for an independent RIBA practice in the Essex region for over 18 years. During this time Michael gained parts II and III of his qualification at London’s South Bank and Greenwich Universities and has run a variety of schemes from complex residential developments, to bespoke schemes in the Commercial, Leisure, Education, and Healthcare sectors. He has had extensive experience running schemes, with a keen eye for detail, and a passion for both contemporary design and traditional architecture. His client-focused approach and friendly, approachable manner create strong client relationships. He guides his clients through each step, proactively managing risk whilst achieving development goals. His commitment to high standards results in successful project outcomes, enhancing both how buildings work, as well as driving values for our client’s assets.

Feasibility and Design Process:
Our process begins with a comprehensive site visit and survey, allowing us to fully assess the project environment. After thorough consultation with our client, we establish and finalise a tailored design brief to guide the project. Once the brief is approved, we create initial sketch designs that reflect the agreed-upon vision, presenting these for client feedback and further refinement.
This collaborative approach ensures that each project aligns with our client’s goals from concept to completion.
Planning Submission Process:
Upon approval of the initial sketch design, we advance the drawings to meet Planning Submission requirements. This includes creating detailed plans, elevations, sections, and location plans that precisely capture the project scope. At this stage, we carefully review and address any potential restrictions related to listed buildings or conservation areas, advising our client on compliance and adaptation strategies where needed.
Building Regulation Submission:
Following planning approval from the Council, we develop detailed drawings for Building Control submission, ensuring they meet all regulatory standards and align with Approved Documents. These drawings are meticulously crafted to comply with building codes and regulations.
Tender & Contract Administration Stage:
During the Tender & Contract Administration stage, we first guide the tendering process to help select the right contractor for the project, ensuring proposals align with the project’s design, budget, and timeline requirements. Once a contractor is appointed, we manage the construction contract on behalf of our client, overseeing all aspects to ensure the work meets the agreed-upon plans, budget, and schedule. Our responsibilities include facilitating clear communication, tracking progress and resolving matters that arise on site from beginning to completion.
We provide both comprehensive and tailored architectural services, structured according to RIBA Work Stages. We collaborate closely with local authorities, ensuring that our designs align with both local and national planning policies as well as current building regulations. This approach allows us to navigate the planning process effectively, delivering projects that are innovative, compliant, and thoughtfully integrated into their surroundings.
